| Certainty that you are communicating with
the right server, and being able to communicate with that server are
among the most important trust requirements in e-business.
The AddTrust2Server solution provides this certainty through the
use of Public Key Infrastructure-based certificates. A server certificate
issued through this AddTrust service assures users of the identity
of the company behind the service and its ownership of the domain
name used. In addition, the server certificate enables the establishment
of a secure connection so that customers can exchange credit card
and other sensitive information without fears of theft. AddTrust
ensures that the certificates can be recognized as trustworthy by
common browsers so that the trustworthiness of certificates can
quickly be established.
How do you recognize that a site is secured with a server certificate?
1. When you enter a site that is secured, you get a dialogue box
with information that you will view a page over a secure connection.
When proceeding you will see at the top of the site, in the address
field, https:// instead of http:// The s means that the site is
secured and uses SSL encryption.
2. At the bottom bar of your screen a pictogram of a closed lock
appears. When double clicking on the lock, the server certificate
opens up for verification.
